SHOCKING NEWS - PRESIDENT DOOFUS ANNOUNCES AL QAEDA WOULD USE NUKES IF POSSIBLE....
WELL THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS !!!
Al Qaeda would likely use Nukes if they acquired them??? Really....wow......did you come up with this all by yourself??
That is why we need to defend our country, stop the "world apology tour" and get back to a strong defensive posture with those in our world who support terrorism.....
Pull your head out of your arse, President Doofus and join the "real world"...it is a bad place at times and those who would use terrorism to influence others must be caught and brought to justice.
Stop apologizing for our country being the "last best hope for the rest of world..." - WE, the defenders of freedom, (unlike our CIC who never served), who wore the uniform of our nation and defended the freedom you enjoy, have NOTHING to be sorry for....
We know the price of freedom because we have paid for it in full.
Obama: Al Qaeda Would Use Nukes If Possible
President Hosts Representatives From 47 Countries To Craft Global Agreement
WASHINGTON (AP) ―
If al Qaeda acquired nuclear weapons it "would have no compunction at using them," President Barack Obama said Sunday on the eve of a summit aimed at finding ways to secure the world's nuclear stockpile."The single biggest threat to U.S. security, both short-term, medium-term and long-term, would be the possibility of a terrorist organization obtaining a nuclear weapon,"
Obama said. "This is something that could change the security landscape in this country and around the world for years to come.""If there was ever a detonation in New York City, or London, or Johannesburg, the ramifications economically, politically and from a security perspective would be devastating," the president said."We know that organizations like Al Qaeda are in the process of trying to secure nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction, and would have no compunction at using them," Obama said.
The Nuclear Security Summit of more than 40 world leaders in Washington this week is aimed at securing "loose nuclear material," Obama said. He was holding one-on-one meetings Sunday with several of those leaders. He said other world leaders have offered "very specific approaches to how we can solve this profound international problem."

Thermal-energy product can help improve performance of bomb-sniffing dogs
GOOD STUFF - Helping Military Dogs do their job better !!
Military finds use for local chemist’s invention
Thermal-energy product can help improve performance of bomb-sniffing dogs
By Patrick Rupinski Staff Writer
Published: Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 3:30 a.m.
TUSCALOOSA Bomb-sniffing dogs used by the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan have become more effective thanks to research developed on the University of Alabama campus.
Inventor and chemist Rusty Sutterlin created a thermal-energy product that can be used in textiles to help keep body temperatures at a desired level.
The material has been used in vests that the military puts on its bomb-
sniffing dogs.
Sutterlin developed his product and other inventions at the University of
Alabama’s AIME Building, which houses a technology incubator that helps entrepreneurs develop new technologies and then bring those technologies to market.
AIME, which stands for Alabama Innovation and Mentoring of Entrepreneurs, held a Friday open house at which investors and businesspeople interested in the developing technologies got to hear and see some of the work being done at the technology incubator.
Sutterlin said the thermal-energy products use similar dynamics to ice. Ice melts as it absorbs the heat around it, he said. Ice forms as it absorbs the cold around it.
Based on that observation, Sutterlin developed a thermal-energy product that could absorb outside heat in hot conditions and outside cold in cool conditions.
The material is incorporated into vests for the Army’s dogs and can be used in clothing, too.
Terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan realized the Army’s bomb-sniffing dogs became less effective during the heat of the day, he said. When dogs get hot, they pant and their ability to effectively sniff out explosives diminishes.
The terrorists thus could gain an advantage during that time. But the special vests have countered that threat by keeping the dogs cool and better able to do their jobs, he said.
The material also can be used in thermal mugs to keep coffee at its most desired temperature, as well as in liquor and wine bottles. Other uses for the material include clothing, packaging and even insulating buildings where the goal would be to keep interiors at a consistent temperature while reducing heating and air conditioning costs.
Sutterlin has licensed the use of some of his patented thermal-energy developments through Entropy Solutions, which incorporates the technology into marketable products.
He has other young research companies in the incubator, including one that is working on converting algae and pond scum into jet fuel.
Sutterlin, a native of Gardendale in northern Jefferson County, received a bachelor’s degree from Troy State University (now Troy University) and did his graduate studies at the University of Missouri. He said he started in a technology incubator in Missouri but chose to move his work to UA’s incubator.
“I am from Alabama and this is my home,” he said.
He said he also has found UA to be more friendly and encouraging in helping the high-tech start-ups in its incubator.
UA is competitive in its cost, he said.
Sutterlin, whose start-up research companies operate as Sutterlin Research, rents two laboratories in the AIME building, where he conducts his research. Being on campus also allows him to get advice and help from faculty members and researchers, plus hire students whose career interests complement the research.
Dan Daly, director of AIME, said the goal of the technology incubator is to help the start-up companies whose discoveries will be in the products of the future.
The incubator companies will have few employees but need help to grow.
The goal is that the company will outgrow the incubator and seek a larger facility for its work and increased staff.
“Our interest is for helping in economic development, so we want them to stay in Alabama, preferably in Tuscaloosa,” Daly said.
Sutterlin agreed with that philosophy. He said he saw no need to go to cities like New York or Chicago to develop technology.
“We have a fine pool of researchers right here at the university and around the state that we can pull from,” he said.

Saw this coming...VOLCKER: Taxes likely to rise eventually to tame deficit
Not that I hold an MBA in Economics, But maybe, (maybe) we should lower spending?
If you do that, we could live within a budget.....maybe?
Not that anyone in President Doofus' administration is trying to do that....no, that would be wrong.
Volcker: Taxes likely to rise eventually to tame deficit
NEW YORK
Tue Apr 6, 2010 7:57pm EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The United States should consider raising taxes to help bring deficits under control and may need to consider a European-style value-added tax, White House adviser Paul Volcker said on Tuesday.
Volcker, answering a question from the audience at a New York Historical Society event, said the value-added tax "was not as toxic an idea" as it has been in the past and also said a carbon or other energy-related tax may become necessary.
Though he acknowledged that both were still unpopular ideas, he said getting entitlement costs and the U.S. budget deficit under control may require such moves. "If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes," he said.

Happy Easter ! A message of Hope, Rebirth & Faith
Happy Easter !
It was nine years ago on Easter 2001 that I sent the enclosed message to my son James who was out to sea on the carrier USS John C. Stennis, CVN-74.
Easter was my Mother's favorite holiday and to her it was the message of hope, rebirth & faith that made it special. Enclosed is the message I sent my son, and I send you with best wishes from Kandahar. All here is well and I will be traveling home for R&R in 2 weeks.
Happy Easter !
COPY of E-mail sent Easter 2001
Happy Easter! My son - It was too much for the Easter Bunny to swim out to meet your ship, but I want to wish you a Happy Easter - Like other holidays, I think Easter has gotten too far from what the true meaning of what it is really about - We are truly blessed with God's love - We are not together on this day, but we know you are safe - We are together in spirit, and united in our faith - The Lord has watched over us, and has guarded us through the past years - and He will be there as our Shepard as we go forward into an uncertain future -
We are very proud of the sacrifice you make to protect us each day - It is a honorable and noble cause to fight for our country & our way of life - In a world where our way of life and faith is under siege, we must continue to hold on to our faith, courage and honor - It is what separates us from the cowardly and despicable bastards that murder innocents in God's name - We will fight these villains, and Justice will prevail -
Enclosed is a passage from John 20:1-18 - it tells the story of the discovery of the Resurrection - Know that we await your safe return, and hope that your time will pass quickly -
We love & miss you - We are truly blessed by Jesus' & God's love.
Love -
Dad
John 20:1-18
20:1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
20:2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."
20:3 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb.
20:4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
20:5 He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in.
20:6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there,
20:7 and the cloth that had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself.
20:8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed;
20:9 for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
20:10 Then the disciples returned to their homes.
20:11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb;
20:12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet.
20:13 They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him."
20:14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.
20:15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away."
20:16 Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means Teacher).
20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
20:18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

50th B-Day Celebration in Kandahar
Middleboro Jones got to celebrate his 50th Birthday in Kandahar. Not so much by choice but due to the necessity of the mission....I am honored to have good friends who provided me a good time and many well wishes....I am blessed with a wealth of good "shipmates" and thank the Lord for his kindness and allowing me 50 good years....now if him and I can negotiate terms for the next 50, I'll be just fine with that.

SPIN CYCLE

I am really, really, really, really sick of the Media putting our country on SPIN CYCLE.
Sarah Palin hit the nail on the head in her key address to the protest in Nevada:
" When we talk about fighting for our country, let’s clear the air right now about what it is that we’re talking about,” Palin told the crowd in the rally’s keynote address. “We’re not inciting violence. Don’t get sucked into the lame-stream media’s lies about … Americans standing up for freedom as inciting violence. Violence isn’t the answer. It’s a bunch of bunk that the media is trying to feed you.”
While Sarah won't be attending any MENSA meetings anytime soon, the DEMS and their lefty allies were the ones spouting " Protest is Patriotic" for the last 8 years.....funny how their tune has changed.....Bastards.
Leave my freedom alone.....I paid for it in full in service to our country.
Saw a T-shirt that summed it up....It showed a soldier standing in a hot LZ and it said " I know I'm going to Heaven because I have already been to Hell."

GOOD DAYS / BAD DAYS

When you get up and the flag is at full mast, it will be a good day. When you get up and the flag is at half mast, you know it will be a bad day. The flag tells the tale and is a visible reminder of the reality of being here in Afghanistan.
I look each morning as I am hopeful that our flag is at full mast. Too many times, I am disappointed. The greater disappointment is experienced by a family back home who now must deal with many terrible days ahead. We, as American have always known the cost of defending freedom and have always understood that while we pay for that Freedom today, the dividends are reaped by future generations. Families of servicemembers understand that also and willing send their sons & daughters to defend Freedom around the world.
Our Forefathers understood this and paid mightily for the freedoms we now take for granted. The Military community and their families understand the significance of where the flag stands on the pole and the "real" cost of what it symbolizes. Each day, think about where the flag stands on the mast and be grateful for each good day, and hopeful that we will have less bad days ahead.

Mirada rights for Terrorists

We grant the terrorists the appropriate level of "rights" they are entitled to...and no more.
To quote FDR,
" Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God."
Iranians train Taliban to use roadside bombs
WTF ? I think it is high time we find where Mr. Wack-amin-nutjob sleeps at night and send him a few "bon-mots"....
The TV feed from the nose cone of the missile that slams into the goat shack where old beady-eyes sleeps would be justice delivered.

TALIBAN commanders have revealed that hundreds of insurgents have been trained in Iran to kill Nato forces in Afghanistan.
The commanders said they had learnt to mount complex ambushes and lay improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which have been responsible for most of the deaths of British troops in Helmand province.
The accounts of two commanders, in interviews with The Sunday Times, are the first descriptions of training of the Taliban in Iran.
According to the commanders, Iranian officials paid them to attend three-month courses during the winter.
They were smuggled across the border to the city of Zahidan, in southeast Iran, an hour’s drive from training camps in the desert.
Instructors in plain clothes provided daily exercises in live firing. The first month was devoted largely to teaching the Taliban how to attack convoys and how to escape before Nato forces could respond.
During their second month they were shown how to plant IEDs in sequence so that the rescuers of soldiers wounded in one blast would be caught in further explosions.
The third month was spent on storming bases and checkpoints. A hilltop fort was among the locations used for practice by a Taliban platoon.
Local mediators persuaded the commanders to travel to Kabul to tell their stories. They were interviewed on separate occasions on the edge of the city.
Western officials troubled by growing Iranian support for the Taliban describe the accounts as credible. A military crackdown in Pakistan is thought to have encouraged Taliban leaders to look to Iran for more help.
One of the commanders said: “The military is pressuring the Taliban in Pakistan. It is certainly harder to reach places that were once easy to get into. I think more of my fighters will travel to Iran for training this year.”
Karl Eikenberry, the American ambassador to Afghanistan, recently described signs of co-operation between Iran and the Taliban as disturbing.
“Iran or elements within Iran have provided training assistance and some weapons to the Taliban,” he said.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has publicly backed his Afghan counterpart, Hamid Karzai. But American and British officials have accused Iran of playing a double game by giving covert backing to the Taliban.
Shi’ite Iran had long opposed the Sunni-dominated Taliban. The reason for the change was summarised by one Taliban commander who said of the Iranians: “Our religions and our histories are different but our target is the same. We both want to kill Americans.”

Agreement...with statements on both sides
SHOCK & AWE.....I actually agree with a statement made by Atty. General Eric Holder - We will not need to worry about reading Miranda to OBL because we WILL be reading it to his dead & lifeless corpse....or the mouth of a bombed out cave where we sealed him in for eternity...
My admiration and agreement of sentiment goes double for the statement of Rep. Culberson, the learned gentleman from the great state of TEXAS...in fact make that triple.
Holder: Osama bin Laden will never face US trial
By DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writer Devlin Barrett, Associated Press Writer 30 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress on Tuesday that Osama bin Laden will never face trial in the United States because he will not be captured alive.
In testy exchanges with House Republicans, the attorney general compared terrorists to mass murderer Charles Manson and predicted that events would ensure "we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden" not to the al-Qaida leader as a captive.
Holder sternly rejected criticism from GOP members of a House Appropriations subcommittee, who contend it is too dangerous to put terror suspects on trial in federal civilian courts as Holder has proposed.
The attorney general said it infuriates him to hear conservative critics complain that terrorists would get too many rights in the court system.
Terrorists in court "have the same rights that Charles Manson would have, any other kind of mass murderer," the attorney general said. "It doesn't mean that they're going to be coddled, it doesn't mean that they're going to be treated with kid gloves."
The comparison to convicted killer Manson angered Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas, who said it showed the Obama administration doesn't understand the American public's desire to treat terrorists as wartime enemies, not criminal defendants.
"My constituents and I just have a deep-seated and profound philosophical difference with the Obama administration," Culberson said.
Holder, his voice rising, charged that Culberson's arguments ignored basic facts about the law and the fight against terrorists.
"Let's deal with reality," Holder said. "The reality is that we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden. He will never appear in an American courtroom."
Pressed further on that point, Holder said: "The possibility of catching him alive is infinitesimal. He will be killed by us or he will be killed by his own people so he can't be captured by us."
Much of the hearing centered around the Obama administration's stalled plan to put the Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the professed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on trial. Last year, Holder announced the trial would take place in federal civilian court in New York City, not far from the site of the destroyed World Trade Center.
In the face of resistance from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other local politicians, that plan was shelved and the White House is now considering putting KSM and four alleged co-conspirators into a military commission trial.
Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., bemoaned what he called a "cowardly" desire to avoid a civilian terror trial in a major city.
If a terrorist had killed thousands of Philadelphians, Fattah said, "we would expect him to come to Philadelphia" to face trial "if he would live long enough."
"It doesn't befit a great nation to hesitate or equivocate on the question of following our own laws," he said.

Monday Relections
Monday Reflections -
This is one of the days where I don't have to spend half the day running around ...It is also a day of working on projects on the computer and I've got my tunes playing.....
The path of our lives takes many turns and it is a wonder to see where you wind up....I'm here in Afghanistan and never anticipated that this would be my 2010 career path but life dealt me some interesting cards and like always, I made the best hand out the cards I was dealt...
My IPod was playing " Crystal Ball" - a favorite song from STYX
" I wonder what tomorrow has in mind for me
Or am I even in it's mind at all
Perhaps I'll get a chance to look ahead and see
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball
Tell me, tell me where I'm going
I don't know where I've been
Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
And then tell me again
....Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
I've just got to know
Crystal ball
There's so many things I need to know
Crystal ball
There's so many things I've got to know
Crystal ball..."
I don't relay on a "Crystal Ball" for obvious reasons but it would have been interesting to have looked into the future many years ago and seen where life would have taken each of us.
But then again, sometimes the process of going forward into our future and seeing it happen as it unfolds makes the process even more interesting.
For now, I'll make the cards I have work and see what the next hand of cards holds....
