The Missing Piece

The DEMS and their sycophants at the NY TIMES must be hitting the Kool-Aid pretty hard.

Take a look at this article - " Do Democrats Have A Shot At The House" by Nate Silver

Here's the link - http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/23/do-democrats-have-a-shot-at-the-house/

He talks about a number of factors like all polling shows the GOP handily keeping control of the House, redistricting, hope that an improving economy will boost DEMS chances, blah, blah, blah....

What is CURIOUS to me as a reader is that he doesn't talk about the one factor that will compel all NOT to vote the DEMS into control of the HOUSE of REPS - NANCY PELOSI.

No one wants the Wicked Witch from SAN FRAN back in charge of the HOUSE.....no one.  That is because she presided over the most screwed up sessions of Congress on record.  The crap that went on under her "leadership" was pathetic.

So blather on DEM Dummies - Especially the NY TIMES idjits.

NO ONE is going to put that witch back in the roll of Speaker.  No how, no way.

Now maybe we can get Dorthy to drop a house on her......

It's a duck....

As the saying goes, " If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it is probably a duck...."

5 non-citizens from Morocco, breaking into a old courthouse in possession of "photographs of infrastructure including photos of shopping malls, water systems, courthouses and other public buildings which they say were taken in cities nationwide" sounds like these idiots were looking to do something that would not have ended well for our country and it's citizens. Glad that they were caught before they could act on their plans.

Have fun in GITMO guys as that will be the next destination on their travel plans....

Terror Link Downplayed in Courthouse Break-In
'Pictures of courthouses, water systems' from around the US found in the van used by five men believed to be Moroccan Muslims.
Jim Forsyth - WOAI San Antonion, TX

Five men in their twenties, described as French-Moroccan Muslims, are being questioned by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and by officials of the Department of Homeland Security after they were arrested inside the 120 year old Bexar County Courthouse in downtown San Antonio shortly before 2 this morning, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Officials say three of the men crawled through a window to get into the 120 year old Courthouse, which is a landmark in downtown San Antonio, and the other two were found in a van parked in front of the building.

Inside the van, officials say they found "photographs of infrastructure" including photos of shopping malls, water systems, courthouses and other public buildings which they say were taken in cities nationwide.

"They got travel documents, parking passes, they have been all over the country," one law enforcement officials who asked not to be identified told 1200 WOAI's Michael Board on the scene. "A lot of photographic equipment, a lot of documentation equipment inside their vehicle."

Officials say the five men entered the country legally on visas from Heathrow Airport in London. They didn't immediately know how long the men have been in the U.S., or what places they may have visited.

Officials immediately blocked off a two square block area of downtown San Antonio around the Courthouse, and bomb sniffing dogs fanned out throughout the building. About two hours later, the streets were reopened, indicating nothing dangerous was found in the building.

"They are going to be held for interrogation by the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the joint terrorism task force," the law enforcement source said.

The men are described as in their early twenties. One law enforcement official said the men told him they climbed to the fourth floor of the courthouse at 2AM "to get a better view of the city."

There is a military intelligence convention underway at the city's Convention Center several blocks away, with top intelligence officials including White House officials set to speak, but investigators didn't say whether there was any connection.

Investigators were tight lipped about the incident this morning.

"All that, coupled with the fact why they can't explain why they are in the building at 1:22 in the morning raises questions," the law enforcement officer said

Next time use a manila folder Minister....

This shows that Politicians acting stupidly is not an American phenomenon....It appears that it is just as prevalent on both sides of the pond.

Next time, don't be such an idjit and use a opaque envelope or a manila folder....unless you WANT TO tell the whole world what you're planning.....

Minister's blunder with memo outside No.10 reveals UK Government 'welcomes' Afghan president stepping down By Ian Drury
UK MAIL - 31st August 2011

Gaffe: Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell leaves Number 10 without covering up his confidential briefing notes

A Cabinet minister risked a diplomatic row yesterday by accidentally revealing a secret Government memo welcoming the departure of Afghanistan's president.
Andrew Mitchell was photographed clutching a confidential briefing paper saying Hamid Karzai's decision to step down would improve the country's prospects 'very significantly'.

In a humiliating blunder the International Development Secretary inadvertently displayed the file, marked 'Protect – Policy', as he left a meeting at No 10.
His gaffe threatens to heighten tensions between Britain and the Afghan government. The relationship is rocky because of Mr Karzai's repeated failure to do more to stamp out corruption in his regime.

The memo, held in a see-through folder, also revealed concerns of Afghanistan being 'destabilised' if the international community continued to suspend aid money.
Mr Mitchell was snapped leaving Downing Street following a meeting of the National Security Council in which ministers discussed the war against the Taliban.

The timing of the slip-up is especially sensitive because it comes as Britain prepares to start pulling many of its 9,000 combat troops out of Afghanistan.

The briefing papers commented on Mr Karzai's plan to step down when his second term ends in 2014 – the same year Nato hands over security responsibilities to the Afghan government.

Mr Karzai was controversially re-elected in 2009 following an election marred by allegations of fraud and vote-rigging.

He has now been forced to say he would abide by the country's constitution and not seek a third term amid claims he was plotting a rule change so he could remain in power or anoint a relative.

He has infuriated the West and is unpopular among fellow Afghans. He has also been criticised for giving power to family and tribal members.

Mr Mitchell's secret papers said Karzai's decision improved Afghanistan's political prospects 'very significantly', adding: 'We should welcome Karzai's announcement in private and in public.'

A Government spokesman said the papers were of a routine nature and had no 'significant sensitivity'

Job creation at the slowest post-recession rate since the Great Depression.

When the feckless politicians start to say that we are making progress on job creation, remember that it really all comes down to the DATA....they will try to sell you some major league BS, especially the Empty-Suit-in-Residence in the White House, along with his BFF Deval Patrick (who helped him raise $2.2 Million Dollars during his visit to Boston this week) - The pair of them will try to say, " Things are getting better.."

They haven't got a clue between the pair of them....we are in a very, very deep hole and due to their foolish moves along with those in Washington, DC. We will be trying to get out of this hole for quite some time..... people's lives have been changed forever and definitely NOT for the better. Mr. Hopey-Changey wants 4 more years.....what a joke. He and his cow of a wife need to be run out of town on a rail.....

Job creation limps along after recession
By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY

Nearly two years after the economic recovery officially began, job creation continues to stagger at the slowest post-recession rate since the Great Depression.

The nation has 5% fewer jobs today — a loss of 7 million — than it did when the recession began in December 2007. That is by far the worst performance of job generation following any of the dozen recessions since the 1930s.

In the past, the economy recovered lost jobs 13 months on average after a recession. If this were a typical recovery, nearly 10 million more people would be working today than when the recession officially ended in June 2009.

"There's still a lot of uncertainty about the economic recovery, and many companies that would like to hire are reluctant to do so because they're not confident sales will pick up and remain strong," says Jerry Conover, director of the Indiana Business Research Center.

This unique recession has been particularly unfriendly to job-seekers, experts say. "There was too much employment in housing, and that isn't coming back — and frankly shouldn't come back," says Amar Bhide, a Tufts University professor.

The housing collapse and productivity gains on the factory floor have made it hard for the economy to absorb workers without a college degree and young people generally, says Carl Camden, president of Kelly Services, a global staffing firm. Manufacturers are producing more value than ever in the USA with a fraction of the workers needed before, he says.

How the recovery is reshaping employment:

•Winners. Health care added 449,000 jobs during the 18-month downturn and 483,000 jobs in the 22 months since.

•Losers. Construction lost 2 million jobs — 1.6 million during the recession and 400,000 during the recovery.

•Biggest swing. Auto manufacturing, saved by a government bailout, had the biggest turnaround, from a 35% job loss in the recession to a 6% gain after it ended. That means 332,000 jobs lost, followed by 42,000 recovered.

Brits deal with Free Speech issue like here in USA - Offensive Muslim Extremists act out in a similar manner to Westboro Baptist idiots....

The Tyranny of the Minority is in full effect both here & abroad. We have the thick skulled idiots of the Westboro Baptist Church spewing their filth at soldier's funerals, and the Brits have Muslim extremists degrading a Remembrance Day Memorial by burning poppies to offend those in attendance.

The significant difference is the Westboro Baptists aren't looking to institute a religious law into our society. The fools over in England are trying to institute Sharia law as they want to control all of England....The idiot involved in the case in England says so directly, " We want Sharia law in this country"

This is the type of threat that needs to be addressed head on....I find this type of protest offensive but it is the price we pay for Freedom of Speech. I am not thrilled with this perversion of the law but understand why it has to be allowed.

On the other hand, the " Tyranny of the Minority" is something that can be and should be stamped out. This stupid fool who mocks the War Dead and preaches overthrow of the British Government should be expelled back to his native country. His actions are defiant and his mocking of the authority should be handled with a charge of contempt of the courts...His attitude will only incite others to act out and while protest is allowed by free speech, inciting violence and civil unrest is not.

The English people need to rise up against these fools and show that they are behind their soldiers and against the vile filth that this idiot puts forward. He'll get his just punishment one day along with the stupid fools from the Westboro Baptist Church. These people are the dregs of society...bottom feeding scumbags and will always be regarded as such.

£50 insult to Britain's war dead: Veteran's fury as poppy burner enjoying a life on benefits gets paltry fine and mocks soldiers
By Emily Andrews - UK Mail

Last updated at 7:56 AM on 8th March 2011

Despite saying he would pay more for a parking fine, Choudhury said he would not pay up

As a British citizen, Emdadur Choudhury enjoys benefits including a free council flat and almost £800 a month state handouts.

Yesterday he laughed at justice as he was handed a paltry £50 fine for setting light to poppies on Remembrance Day and yelling ‘British soldiers burn in hell’.

After hearing his penalty, which outraged war veterans, the 26-year-old father of two declared: ‘I don’t have any respect for British soldiers, and if they lose a limb or two in Afghanistan then they deserve it. You expect me to feel sorry for them? Of course I don’t.’

Emdadur Choudhury, who didn't bother to attend the hearing yesterday, claimed the charge levelled against him was 'ridiculous'

Choudhury, from Bethnal Green, East London, was found guilty of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour by District Judge Howard Riddle, following a one-day trial last month.

The maximum fine possible was £1,000, plus legal costs, and Judge Riddle said he had no doubt Choudhury had set out to shock and offend. Yet he fined him only £50, plus a £15 victim surcharge.

Although Choudhury sneered that he would have been fined more than £50 for a parking offence, he is refusing to pay. However the bill will be picked up by his ‘good friend’ Anjem Choudary, the notorious firebrand preacher.

Choudhury could also have been charged under Section 31 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, which is racially or religiously aggravated public order offence. This offence also carries a maximum sentence of six months, but the level of fine can reach £2,500.

The defendant could also have faced charges of an incitement or racial hatred under the Public Order Act.

This offence relates to deliberately provoking hatred of a racial group. Among the offences listed as arrestable are making inflammatory public speeches and inciting inflammatory rumours about an individual or an ethnic group.

Choudhury, whose parents are Bangladeshi immigrants who came to Britain for a better life, was a leading member of a demonstration by the so-called Muslims Against Crusaders on November 11
.
During the two-minute silence he was caught on camera unfurling several large plastic poppies and dousing them in petrol before setting them alight.

The protesters, who had gathered near the Royal Albert Hall close to the finish of a charity walk to commemorate service personnel, also repeatedly yelled ‘Burn British soldiers, burn in hell’.

Choudhury and his co-accused Mohammed Haque, 30, who was cleared of the same charge for lack of evidence, could not even be bothered to attend Belmarsh Magistrates’ Court for the verdict.

The court heard that Choudhury works part time as a satellite engineer and earns £480 a month. He also receives a monthly total of £792 in state benefits, comprising £240 working tax credit; £432 child tax credit and £120 a month child benefit.

Judge Riddle said: ‘Shocking and offending people is sometimes a necessary part of effective protest. Here, an obvious consequence of this process was to show disrespect for dead soldiers.

‘The two-minute chanting, when others were observing a silence, followed by a burning of the symbol of remembrance, was a calculated and deliberate insult to the dead and those who mourn or remember them. If the memory of dead soldiers is publicly insulted at a time and place where there is likely to be gathered people who have expressly attended to honour those soldiers, then the threat to public order is obvious.

‘Here it is hard to imagine that a public order disturbance was not intended.’

Choudary was caught on camera unfurling several large plastic poppies on the ground before burning them at the end of the two-minute silence to honour the war dead

Later, in a park near his home, a defiant Choudhury said: ‘The poppy disgusts me – it’s not to do with World War One or World War Two veterans, it’s all about raising money for soldiers injured in the wars now.

‘I’m not being disrespectful for burning it, I’m being honourable. It’s all about shock and awe, to get these soldiers out of Muslim lands.’

Asked if he would do it again, he replied laughing: ‘You’ll have to find out next time, won’t you? The only reason I even got a fine is cos it’s politically motivated. I would have got a bigger fine for a parking ticket than this.

District Judge Howard Riddle made the decision to impose the fine on Choudhury, something that left Shaun Rusling and fellow veterans 'disgusted'

‘It’s my freedom of speech and I’m exercising that. I’m being persecuted for it. This fine, I will wear it as a badge on my shoulder. I did it for Allah. I did it to raise awareness that these so-called soldiers are the criminals. They are the ones who should be tried for war crimes.’

Sinisterly he promised that he had ‘2,000 youths who will follow me and do whatever I tell them – you don’t want another Afghanistan here do you? We want Sharia law in this country, and Inshallah [God willing] we will get it’.

Shaun Rusling, of the National Gulf War Veterans and Families Association, said: ‘I think the British people would be disgusted with the sentence handed out.

Remembrance Day is very special for those in the Armed Forces, when we remember those who have lost their lives for freedom and fighting for their country.

Mohammad Haque (left) and Emdadur Choudhury (right) pictured yesterday. Choudhury was convicted of a public order offence after he burned a poppy on Armistice Day and fined £50. Fellow defendant Haque was found not guilty of the same offence

‘It is a personal insult to all of them. I am personally insulted, any veteran would be personally insulted by them burning a poppy. I don’t think it is an acceptable sentence at all.’

A spokesman for the Royal British Legion said: ‘The poppy is the symbol of sacrifice and valour. It offers everyone an opportunity to reflect on the human cost of conflicts past and present.

‘The two-minute silence is a time for such reflection, and not for political protests or public disorder. We are confident that this is understood and supported by most people.

SO WHY WAS HE JUST CHARGED WITH A PUBLIC ORDER OFFENCE?

Emdadur Choudhury was charged with an offence under Section 5 of Public Order Act 1986. Under the act, a person is guilty of an offence if they use either, threatening abusive or insulting words, disorderly behaviour, or display any writing, sign or visible representation that he threatening or insulting.

The maximum sentence for this offence is six months, while the highest fine imposable by a court is £1,000. The judge could also have imposed a community sentence such as unpaid work. However because the defendant is understood to have no prior criminal convictions, the judge would not have considered a custodial sentence.

You are in the very best of hands (part 2) - Facebook To Share Users' Home Addresses, Phone Numbers With External Sites

Not that I treat the HUFFPO as any great source of Journalism but my regard for FACEBOOK is about equal to how I regard the Taliban....Facebook is the dumbest of dumb things you can do.....Really, what part of your brain has to think that exposing all the personal details of your life online could be a positive experience???? REALLY.....I may rant and talk about stuff here, but there is no amount of real personal data here for anyone to gain....on Facebook, they can get every last detail about you and all your online " Friends"

NOW, they will let advertisers and others (who pay the right amount of $$$) to access all your personal data including cell phone number and addresses....

Face it, FACEBOOK will be looked back on in about 10 years as one of the stupidest things that people did and all the money/time/effort that was wasted on it....Think about how much speculative bull-shite they have gained due to people giving them money and thinking that money is well invested?? FACEBOOK has no product, no real value....it is all a bunch of bullcrap and others are making money off your personal info....what a scam.

People used to say, " KILL YOUR TV " as they thought it was sapping people's ability to think....I say " KILL YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT " while you can....really. You will thank me later on.

Facebook To Share Users' Home Addresses, Phone Numbers With External Sites
03/ 2/11 08:43 PM - HUFFPO

Facebook will be moving forward with a controversial plan to give third-party developers and external websites the ability to access users' home addresses and cellphone numbers in the face of criticism from privacy experts, users, and even congressmen.

Facebook quietly announced the new policy in a note posted to its Developer Blog in January. It suspended the feature just three days later following user outcry, while promising that it would be "re-enabling this improved feature in the next few weeks."

In response to a letter penned by Representatives Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) expressing concern over the new functionality, Facebook reaffirmed that it will be allowing third parties to request access to users' addresses and phone numbers.

Facebook noted that it is considering implementing controls that would more explicitly highlight the personal nature of the information being transmitted to applications and explained it is "actively considering" whether to restrict users under 18 years old from sharing their contact information with third-party developers.

"We expect that, once the feature is re-enabled, Facebook will again permit users to authorize applications to obtain their contact information," Facebook's Marne Levine, vice president of global public policy, wrote in the letter to Reps. Markey and Barton. "[H]owever, we are currently evaluating methods to further enhance user control in this area."

Facebook has attempted to tread a fine line with regard to privacy issues even as it has continuously pushed users to share more information, both on Facebook and beyond the social network.

The plan to open up users' address and phone numbers to third-party sites and services marks the latest frontier in Facebook's often controversy-fraught efforts to encourage users to be more liberal in sharing their data and online activity.

Even if the revamped feature were to include improved notifications and protections for minors, privacy experts warn the feature could imperil users' personal information and increase their risk of being targeted by scams, spam, and identity thieves.

Though Facebook prohibits applications from selling users' information or sharing it with advertisers and data brokers, malicious, rogue apps spreading phishing scams and other ruses are not uncommon on the social network. With just a few errant clicks, an unsuspecting user could potentially hand over her home address to a scammer peddling diet cures or free iPads in an effort to compile credit card data and other personal information.

"[Scammers] might be able to impersonate you if they had your phone number," said Norman Sadeh-Koniecpol, a professor at the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science. "They're saying, 'Please give us your phone number,' but they're not telling you whether they'll share it or whether they'll sell it or use if for malicious purposes. In fact, you don't know who you're dealing with."

Others are concerned with what they see as Facebook's willingness to change the rules of play--first encouraging people to share personal information with a more limited group of friends, then allowing that data to be accessed in new, unexpected ways.

"People never thought when they were posting this data [such as their phone numbers] that it would be accessible to anyone but friends. There's a real mismatch of expectations around that," said Mary Hodder, chairman of the Personal Data Ecosystem Consortium. "Even if Facebook comes back with new protections, they're still saying, 'Hey, get over it, your data is public.' I feel badly for users that Facebook's approach is 'You give us anything and it's all fair game.'"

Despite the social network's intentions to make addresses and phone numbers accessible to developers, Rep. Markey offered Facebook measured praise for its response, while stressing the necessity of protecting younger users.

"I'm pleased that Facebook's response indicated that it's looking to enhance its process for highlighting for users when they are being asked for permission to share their contact information," Rep. Markey said in a statement. "I'm also encouraged that Facebook is deciding whether to allow applications on the site to request contact information from minors. I don't believe that applications on Facebook should get this information from teens, and I encourage Facebook to wall off access to teen's contact information if they enable this new feature."

UPDATE: Facebook has contacted The Huffington Post with the following statement:

Despite some rumors, there's no way for other websites to access a user's address or phone number from Facebook. For people that may find this option useful in the future, we're considering ways to let them share this information (for example to use an online shopping site without always having to re-type their address). People will always be in control of what Facebook information they share with apps and websites

Three Empty Suits....Would you buy a used car from them?? Probably not - So why would you bother to vote for them ???

Three-of-a-kind......Three Politicians who have been proven to talk out of both sides of their mouths, promise you anything to get your vote (no matter what the facts are) and are the three biggest proponent of mandatory health plans (ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL by the Federal Courts).....ALL three have shown themselves to be no more than an " Empty Suit ".

You wouldn't buy a used car from any of these three feckless idiots.....so why would you trust them to be in charge of our country??

Romney was elected Governor in Massachusetts and promptly went on the road to run for President....He was a no-show for his job and tried to sell himself to the country.....He failed.

Deval " Spend It All " Patrick has just reelected in Massachusetts (mainly by union supporters) and has started to follow the same pattern, shilling for POTUS instead of doing the job he was just re-elected for....another failure trying to sell himself and his buddy nationally.

Obama has been doing "on the job" training for the past two years and failing miserably.....and now he wants to say he deserves another 4 years.....Are you kidding me??? It is no surprise to me that his new slogan " Winning the Future" abbreviates as " WTF " because every time this fool opens his mouth, WTF? is the first thing I say after hearing his level of stupidity....another failure.

So, there we have it....Three Failures all tripping over each other to try and convince you and me they know better than us and should be trusted to be the one who is in charge of our Government.......Riiiiiiggggghhhht.

I just wish that these three DUNCES would just go do something else and leave the business of running our country to someone who is more qualified and can get the job done.

Right now, I would trust Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey more than any of these three fools.....We need someone who will look out for the average Joe, not the Unions and not the deep pocketed contributors.

The three fools pictured at the top of this post are not looking out for you.....only themselves and their big contributors.........
Give your vote and support to someone else - Tell all three of them to take a hike......
You'll thank me later.

" It was a recipe for waste, a scatter-gun approach that raised many public expectations, but in the end provided few achievements and fewer yet jobs"

Guess the idjit-in-charge and his administration full of fools got it wrong again......The CBO now estimates the cost of the Stimulus Plan was *more* than the OBOTS had previously estimated...

Wow....a real shocker eh?? And does it matter to them? No, after all, he & the rest of his ilk will be on the Federal Dole for life....while we (you,me, our children and their children, etc.) will be paying the bill for this foolishness for the rest of our combined lifetimes.....Talk about " Highway Robbery " ...You can't spend yourself out of a hole but these fools have wasted our National Treasure to line the pockets of their political allies and only succeeded in digging the hole deeper.

CBO raises its stimulus cost estimate, again
By Stephen Dinan

The Washington Times
8:02 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Congress‘ chief scorekeeper has again raised the cost estimate of President Obama‘s two-year-old economic-stimulus program, calculating it will end up costing taxpayers $821 billion — or $34 billion more than originally projected.

And the economic boost from the added government spending is beginning to wear off, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said in a new report Wednesday. The CBO said that in the final three months of 2010, the stimulus was paying to keep between 1.3 million and 3.5 million people in jobs, both down from the peak recorded in the prior three-month period.

The drop was expected, since the biggest chunk of stimulus money was spent out during fiscal year 2010, which ended Sept. 30.

Mr. Obama‘s stimulus program turned two years old last week, but it remains a thorny political issue.

House Republicans sought to cancel several billion dollars in unspent stimulus money as part of the $61 billion in spending cuts they passed Saturday, and Republicans on both sides of the Capitol have introduced legislation to try to reclaim other money or audit what was actually spent.

“The Department of Energy alone had $39 billion in stimulus money — all, I might say, borrowed — $9 billion more than its entire budget. It was a recipe for waste, a scatter-gun approach that raised many public expectations, but in the end provided few achievements and fewer yet jobs,” said Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey Republican, in the debate last week.

But Democrats said the remaining stimulus funds should be spent.

“There are people who are now at their 99th level of not being able to get employed and get unemployment insurance. They need these jobs,” said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, during the floor debate.

Estimates for the actual cost of the stimulus have changed dramatically, rising from the initial $787 billion price tag to reach $862 billion, then falling to $814 billion and now ticking back up to $821 billion.

The increased overall 10-year cost of the stimulus comes mostly from higher Medicaid spending in 2010 and a higher payout of refundable tax credits in 2011, CBO analysts said.

SPAM KILLS TERRORIST....Talk about reach out and touch someone....

SPAM....the computer variety is a nuisance.....I actually like the Canned meat type....spent time in Hawaii where they eat a lot of it, but I digress.....

Getting it on your cell phone can be a real pain or in the case of the terrorist in Moscow who planned a New Year's Eve Massacre, it can be down right deadly.....Luckily, she was the only person taken out by the SPAM that sealed her fate.....Kudos to her phone service providers.

Awesome use of the techonology Dude.....bloody brilliant....

Text message blows up suicide bomber by accident
By Andrew Osborn, The Daily Telegraph

A "Black Widow" suicide bomber planned a terrorist attack in central Moscow on New Year's Eve but was killed when an unexpected text message set off her bomb too early, according to Russian security sources.

The unnamed woman, who is thought to be part of the same group that struck Moscow's Domodedovo airport on Monday, intended to detonate a suicide belt near Red Square on New Year's Eve in an attack that could have killed hundreds.

Security sources believe a message from her mobile phone operator wishing her a happy new year received just hours before the planned attack triggered her suicide belt, killing her at a safe house.

Islamist terrorists in Russia often use mobile phones as detonators. The bomber's handler, who is usually watching their charge, sends the bomber a text message in order to set off his or her explosive belt at the moment when it is thought they can inflict maximum casualties.

The dead woman has not been identified, but her husband is apparently serving time in jail for being a member of a radical Islamist terror group.

Security sources believe the New Year's Eve bomber and the airport bombers may have been members of a suicide squad trained in Pakistan's al-Qaida strongholds which was sent to target the Russian capital's transport system.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with Monday's bombing, which left 35 people dead. Police are trying to identify the severed head of a male suicide bomber recovered from the scene.

Holiday Season in full swing along with Drunk Drivers....at the scene of an arrest for DWI just down the street from my house last night

No lack of action in my neck of the woods...last night about 22:30 hours, a knucklehead drunk driver came down the road and managed to run off the road. In doing so he plowed into a space between a telephone pole and a wire stanchion, hooking the bumper of his truck on the wires...

The initial crash awakened me as I was just dozing off and then the sound of the guy trying to work his truck off the wires got me outta bed and outside just as a Police Car showed up on the scene....The guy was still trying to extricate his truck off the pole when the cop got out of his cruiser and ordered the guy out of his truck with his weapon drawn. The guy obeyed the cop and got out....He was placed under arrest but asked to be taken to the hospital....what an idjit.

Enclosed are pics from the scene....a local developer wants to stack 70 units of housing into an old factory site across the street in the next year which would overcrowd the area....Last night's stupidity is a good example of the reason why until the town fixes the issues on my street,(speeding, bad road surface, lack of traffic plan) adding many more units of housing here would be a disaster.

Also, just a general reminder - Take it slow out there and for God's sake, and for the sake of your fellow man, if you have a drink, DON'T DRIVE.

The life you save might be your own or more importantly, that of an innocent person who happens to get in your line-of-fire....There is no justification for this type of stupidity.

The Dumbing Down of the News - Journalism keeps sinking to new lows

Another " Really? " Moment..... Has journalism sunk this low?

I like to read the news, always have and always will. I became a news junkie at a very young age of 4 when my Dad would bring home three newspapers each day and I would go through them to find the Comics. I loved them and it was cool to be able to read the different papers as each offered pictures and other cool stuff.

I still like to read the news and presently, the Internet offers a news junkie's delight as there are website galore that are dedicated to providing the latest news from around the world.

The news that I see and what is presented as NEWS is what troubles me....That some of what is sent along could actually be important enough that it constitutes a "news worthy" item...

For Example, the headlines today are a perfect example of what I mean:

" Great Britain's Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton are engaged. " - OK, the Royal Family are famous but is this really that big enough news that it rates a Headline?? Social page maybe but not top headlines unless you live in England

" Thanks, Sarah Palin: 'Refudiate' Dubbed Word of the Year " Sarah Palin is either scorned or cheered but again, is this newsworthy? Unless she declares to run for President, then it may be newsworthy. Until then, not so much.

" Did Jessica Simpson Pay for Her Own $100000 Ring? " - Seriously, who flippin' cares?

" The Price 20-Somethings Pay to Live in the City" - A fluff piece in the NY TIMES about the plight of the youngsters who want to live in NYC but have trouble affording it or finding a place that " suits them " - One idjit in this story has his MOTHER paying his rent - " Does his mother, who’s paying his rent, worry about him? " Again, how is this NEWSWORTHY that some 20 year old knucklehead has his Mother paying the rent so he can live in NYC?? And this is important how?

" Kanye West Vs. Matt Lauer: The Feud Escalates " AND " Jay-Z decodes life through lyrics with new book; defends Kanye and Obama" - Really?? Do any of us need to know anything these two mouth-breathers have to say about anything? Kanye West & Jay-Z are NOT important to what the rest of us need to know and their opinions are anything BUT important. They are two marguinal talents propped up by the youth obsessed culture that treats what they do as art. If what they do is art, so is the sound made by my Old Jeep.

Listen to this idiot spout his drivel - Jay-Z: " I wanted to tell the story of a generation. Through my story, I'm telling the story of a generation of kids, and we grew up in one of the worst eras ever"

REALLY?? One of the worst eras ever??? In comparison to the Depression era, WW2 Era, The Cold War Era, The Vietnam Era, Etc?? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME ?? Up until the last two years, America and the standard of Living has been at it's highest levels ever over the last 50 years so what is he talking about??? Jay-Z spends much of "Decoded" talking about his career as a drug dealer - REALLY?? As if that is something we want to glorify with glowing tributes to his written words - NO, We Should not. He should not be able to brag about the drugs he sold and the pain he caused others.

This is more drivel and to support OBAMA and Kanye West shows that this cretin has no integrity, honor or standing as he supports the dumbing down of America.

The news should be information we need to know and help keep the public informed on important issues. What some celebrity thinks about a Political issue is as important has what the guy who sells newspapers on the corner thinks about it... Just because people pay idiots with a microphone like Jay-Z or Kanye to make "music" (allegedly) doesn't mean they are experts on other subjects that deserve recognition, no more than the guy who repairs your car should be consulted about world affairs.

It is a symptom of a larger problem of a celebrity / youth obsessed culture in our country, driven by the idea that we must tailor our world to the lowest intelligence level and the 14- 25 year old demographic. The MTV age group is somehow regarded higher than those who work, pay the bills and put food on the table each day for their family...

I am decidedly middle-aged but far from "out-of-it". It bothers me that all the rest of society eats up this terrible drivel without looking at what is served up and saying, " Really? As if this is worthy of my time or effort."

If we rejected this crappola for what it is, maybe (just maybe) the media will stop serving it. One could only hope.

Meanwhile, while idijits are focusing on the wastrels of Hollywood, we have true American Heroes fight & dying for our freedom and trying to keep us safe from those who want to kill us and our country....Maybe that is worthy of a little more attention after all.....I believe so and so should any sane citizen. Tell the Oprahs and the Kanye West's of the world to take a flying leap, we are going to focus on what really matters. The news will be devoted to issues that truly effect our lives and not a bunch of self-obsessed, shallow, dumb-it-down idijits acting out.

That would be news and HIGHLY newsworthy.
